Sunda Strait Tsunami

Jakarta, December 24, 2018 - Following the Sunda Strait tsunami on Saturday night our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic event.
The Sunda Strait, between the islands of Java and Sumatra, connecting the Java Sea to the Indian Ocean.

The Aston Anyer Beach Hotel located along the coast in that area was largely unaffected by the event and we are happy to report that all of our guests and employees have been accounted for and there have been no injuries.

During the planning stage of the hotel and to anticipate large waves which occasionally happen during very high tides in December and January each year, the hotel site was raised over two meters and a sea barrier wall built along the beach for extra protection. This has proved very effective during this unexpected event at protecting the hotel, guests, and staff.

The hotel and the Archipelago management company which oversees the hotel are currently organizing emergency materials to be provided to local residents most affected.

The hotel is still operating as normal, however we do encourage guests or people visiting the hotel or the area to check the news for the most current information. In general, access is still open and smooth with little or no delays.

The hotel will of course, not be charging for any cancellations or early check-outs during this time.

If you have a booking and need further information or wish to cancel, please contact the hotel directly by;
