Also known as Fatahillah Museum or Batavia Museum is located in the Old Town (known as Kota Tua). The building was built in 1710 as the Stadhuis (city hall) of Batavia. Jakarta History Museum opened in 1974 and displays objects from the prehistory period of the city region, the founding of Jayakarta in 1527, and the Dutch colonization period from the 16th century until Indonesia’s Independence in 1948. The museum is located in south side of Fatahillah Square (former Batavia city square) near Wayang Museum and Fine Art and Ceramic Museum.

Bank Indonesia Museum


The museum is housed in a heritage building in Jakarta Old Town which had been the first headquarters of the Netherlands Indies gulden (De Javasche bank), the central bank of Dutch East Indies. The bank was nationalized as Bank Indonesia in 1953, after Indonesia gained its independence. The museum is designed to introduce the public Bank Indonesia's role on the Indonesian history. The museum also provide visitors with audio and visual experience on the history of currencies and trade in Indonesia from pre-colonial era to the present state. Istiqlal Mosque

The largest mosque in Southeast Asia. This national mosque of Indonesia was built to commemorate Indonesian independence and named "Istiqlal", an Arabic word for "independence". The mosque was opened to the public 22 February 1978. Within Jakarta, the mosque is positioned next to Merdeka Square and the Jakarta Cathedral. A Roman Catholic Cathedral with official name is Gereja Santa Perawan Maria Diangkat Ke Surga (from Dutch, De Kerk van Onze Lieve Vrouwe ten Hemelopneming, in English: The Church of Our Lady of Assumption).
