Jakarta, December 2022 – Heading to the end of 2022, most Indonesians and travelers worldwide were busy preparing vacation plans for themselves, with friends, or with family. Holidays are not complete without enjoying culinary treats at each destination. But what about people with diabetes? ASTON Priority Simatupang Hotel & Conference Center, in collaboration with Binawaluya Heart Hospital, held a medical seminar entitled "Healthy Holidays for People with Diabetes" on Friday, 23 December 2022, in the Kebagusan room of the ASTON Priority Simatupang Hotel, which aimed to educate the public about people with diabetes.

An Internist specialist doctor from Rumah Sakit Jantung Binawaluya (Heart Hospital), dr. Ni Nengah Aryanti Dewi, Sp.PD was the speaker at the event and provided counseling on diabetes, its various types, and diabetes management, such as education, nutritional therapy, physical exercise, and pharmacological therapy.

People with diabetes must pay attention to their travel preparations ahead of holidays and consult their doctor before traveling. They should also prepare a bag of medical equipment with a blood sugar measuring device, spare batteries, and a certificate of diabetes. While flying, keeping track of blood sugar and considering time zones is essential.

"There are several tips for healthy holidays that must be considered for people with diabetes; don't skip meals, consume vegetables, drink lots of water, practice a regular diet, exercise during holidays, and check blood sugar levels regularly," commented dr. Ni Nengah Aryanti Dewi, Sp.PD, doctor from Binawaluya Heart Hospital

"The end of the year is the most awaited moment for everyone to have a vacation with their family, but don't let the joy of this moment disappear due to health problems, especially for people with diabetes. That's why we are providing health education counseling with the concept of health talk for the general public so everyone can stay safe and healthy during the holidays," commented Andi Gevika Rizki, General Manager of ASTON Priority Simatupang Hotel & Conference Center.
