Jakarta, January 2023 – Talking about the rich variety of Indonesian culinary delights, cannot be separated from the historical attachment to it, one of which is Mie Aceh. This typical dish of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam has a characteristic thick sauce with a strong taste of spices complete with a variety of side dishes and slices of mutton, beef, chicken and seafood.

Mie Aceh was influenced by foreign culture, especially through the entry of Islam into Indonesia by traders from Gujarat, India, in the Kingdom of Aceh. Then these traders assimilated with the local people and brought new tastes to their cuisine.

Thick curry sauce on Mie Aceh with spices such as; Chili, pepper, cumin, cardamom and turmeric are the distinctive flavors of the Indian people combined with Hokkien noodles typical of China which also influenced Acehnese cuisine due to the collaboration between the Kingdom of Aceh and China. Serving various side dishes with lamb and beef is also an Islamic tradition in Aceh. Meanwhile, serving with seafood is influenced by the geographical conditions of Aceh which is surrounded by oceans. This combination of cultures produces Mie Aceh cuisine with a unique and rich taste.

There’s no need to go all the way to the city of “Serambi Mekkah" to taste this culinary acculturation. ASTON Priority Simatupang also serves Mie Aceh as a chef's recommendation menu which is available for two months from January to February 2023.

The price is relatively affordable at IDR 68,000 net for a large portion containing various side dishes with seafood. Hotel guests can order fried or gravy versions at the restaurant or delivered to the room.

"ASTON Priority Simatupang is consistently promoting local culture, one of which is providing Indonesian culinary specialties as a recommendation menu from the Chef every two months with a different menu each time. In January and February, we are presenting Mie Aceh cuisine as a must try menu for Indonesian culinary lovers” commented Andi Gevika Rizki, General Manager of ASTON Priority Simatupang Hotel & Conference Center
