Batu City, August 14, 2023 - At the 6th Batu Street Food Festival event, there was a special participation from ASTON Inn Batu, which took part in breaking the MURI (Indonesian Record Museum) record with an extraordinary achievement. They successfully created a Manalagi Strudel measuring 780 meters, a remarkable and impressive accomplishment.

The apple has been an iconic symbol associated with Malang Regency and Batu City for a long time; in fact, Malang is referred to as the "Apple City." However, apple production has been decreasing, and farmers are starting to shift to other commodities.

Therefore, ASTON Inn Batu and BPC PHRI Kota Batu aimed to contribute to the preservation of Batu City's apple by reintroducing it to the residents of Batu City and tourists. They achieved this by breaking the MURI record with a 780-meter-long Manalagi Strudel on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 09:00 AM local time at the Graha Pancasila Building, Balaikota Among Tani, Batu City.

Millennial farmer ambassadors from the Ministry of Agriculture also participated by contributing half a ton of apples. "We want to influence young farmers, especially apple farmers in Batu City, not to be afraid of apple farming. Apples are also economically beneficial," said Mr. Angga, the owner of Tiga Dara fruit supplier in the Sidomulyo area.

Assisted by Chef Alfen, the Executive Chef of ASTON Inn Batu, the process involved peeling the apples, placing the filling into the pastry sheets, and then baking the apple strudel. "We worked on this 780-meter Manalagi Strudel MURI record for 7 days non-stop, assisted by SMKN 1 Batu, Trsitar Culiner, women from Disnaker, and restaurants and hotels in Batu City who collaborated to break the 780-meter apple strudel MURI record," said Chef Alfen, the Executive Chef of ASTON Inn Batu.

The 6th Batu Street Food Festival event differed from previous years. In this edition, BPC PHRI Kota Batu aimed to break the MURI record by creating a 780-meter-long Manalagi Strudel distributed directly to the residents of Batu City, orphans, and veterans. "Thanks to our partners and sponsors who supported this MURI record-breaking achievement. In the coming years, Batu Street Festival will break more MURI records using locally sourced agricultural products from Batu City. We ask for everyone's prayers," said Didik Rocki Wahyono, Chairman of the Batu Street Food Festival Committee and General Manager of ASTON Inn Batu.

We hope that this outstanding achievement will continue to inspire culinary communities throughout Indonesia to innovate and create impressive culinary creations. Batu Street Food Festival remains committed to being a platform that celebrates culinary richness and cultural uniqueness across the archipelago.
