Climate change is becoming increasingly worrying by the day. The impacts of climate change can trigger various problems on our planet. Earth Hour is a global movement that seeks to invite individuals, communities, business practitioners, and governments in various parts of the world to show their concern and contribution to symbolic efforts to combat climate change.

Participating in small things can make a big change. Habits like turning off lights when leaving a room, unplugging unnecessary appliances, using energy-saving lights or smart thermostats to control the temperature at home. All these little things will have a significant impact on energy consumption if done massively.

The Aston Hotels in Banten has committed to playing a role in preserving the earth, as seen in the Earth Hour program, a campaign to turn off electric lights for one hour, held on Saturday, 23 March 2024, simultaneously.

Aston Serang Hotel & Convention Center is committed to commemorating Earth Hour in a meaningful and positive way. In the spirit of environmental preservation and making a real contribution to society, Aston Serang Hotel & Convention Center proudly announces collaboration with the Digital Waste Bank in an effort to collect sustainable waste.

The Aston Serang Hotel & Convention Center, together with the Digital Waste Bank, held waste collection activities involving employees. This activity focused on collecting various types of waste, such as glass, bottles, bottle caps, buckets, paper, newspapers, aluminum, iron, cans, stainless steel, copper, car/motorcycle batteries, plastic bags, nails, used cooking oil, and various other types of waste.

Each type of waste successfully collected was weighed to 15,5kg and donated to those in need. This is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of the Aston Serang Hotel & Convention Center aimed at making a positive impact on the surrounding environment.

In addition, there were children's activities and art and crafts recycling by the Digital Waste Bank. Children enjoyed the handicraft sessions using recycled materials, organized by the Digital Waste Bank. Hotel guests who participate have the opportunity to receive attractive souvenirs.

Luna Feritha, Cluster Public Relations Manager of ASTON Anyer, ASTON Cilegon, and ASTON Serang, explained, "In facing the increasingly urgent environmental challenges, we at the Aston Serang Hotel & Convention Center believe that every small step can make a significant contribution to the preservation of our planet. With collaboration with the Digital Waste Bank, we hope to inspire the surrounding community to participate in environmental conservation efforts."

Aston Cilegon Boutique Hotel supported the Earth Hour program by conducting a power outage as a symbol of commitment to supporting environmental conservation. During this one-hour period, hotel guests and visitors were invited to experience a serene atmosphere while enjoying live acoustic music.

In addition, guests could participate in DIY paper lantern activities filled with LED lights. Participants in this DIY paper lantern activity received complimentary snack bites. Participants in the photo contest and DIY paper lantern activity that successfully attracted attention had the opportunity to win entertainment prizes in the form of F&B vouchers worth IDR250,000 for the first winner, IDR200,000 for the second winner, and IDR150,000 for the third winner.

Aston Anyer Beach Hotel did a similar thing: a power outage from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Doddy Fathurahman, Regional General Manager, explained, "This is an important moment for all of us to unite in our efforts to protect our environment. Through participation in Earth Hour and the series of activities we organize, we hope to inspire the wider audience to make positive changes in their thinking and behavior towards the environment."
