Art Center

Art Center


Also known as Taman Werdi Budaya, Art Center is located on Jl. Nusa Indah in Abian Kapas, a suburb of Denpasar. 15-minute walk from the east of Kreneng station. Set in a restful garden with lotus ponds amid richly carved baroque (Balinese buildings), the Taman Werdi Budaya houses exhibits of modern painting, masks, and wood carving featuring both Balinese and Indonesian artists. Dances are also regularly staged for the public, including modern Balinese choreography.

Bajra Sandhi Monument


Bajra Sandhi Monument is a major landmark in Denpasar, set right in the centre of the Renon Square (locally referred to ‘Puputan Renon’). The site is located 20-minutes away from Aston Denpasar Hotel & Convention Center and adjacent the Bali Governor’s office, and is hard to miss with its grand structure that resembles a Balinese Hindu priest’s praying bell, or ‘bajra’. Inside the base is a museum that displays various historical dioramas of the people’s past struggle for Independence.

Pemecutan Palace


Pemecutan Palace is located on Thamrin Street, about 200 m west of Puputan Square. The palace was built in the 16th century and is well known for its unique Balinese traditional architecture and for its beautiful royal family shrines. The palace is divided into two main compounds: the living quarters and pemerajan (place of worship). A huge split gate brings visitors to the spacious outer courtyard, where in the past the local communities performed dances and other performing arts. A bell tower, where the hollow wooden drum is kept, and a pavilion for a gamelan musical ensemble are the two main buildings in this yard.

Bali Museum

The Bali Museum is a museum of art and history located on the east side of the central square of Denpasar, Taman Puputan. The museum was built in 1931 by architect P.J. Moojen, near the location of the former royal palace of Denpasar. There are four main buildings inside the museum, Tabanan displaying theatrical masks and musical instruments, Karangasem sculptures and paintings, Buleleng textiles, and Timur with archeological finds.

Sidik Jari Museum


Located in the central area of Denpasar, 20-minute away from Aston Denpasar Hotel & Convention Center, Sidik Jari Museum was established by Gede Ngurah Rai Pemecutan, the grandson of Balinese mighty hero I Gusti Ngurah Rai.
